Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Cost Management & Forecasting: Prepare accurate cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts. Monitor project expenditure against budget, providing detailed monthly cost reports and variance analysis to senior management.
- Procurement & Tendering: Manage the full procurement process for subcontract packages, including preparing tender documentation, conducting rigorous tender analysis, negotiating terms, and awarding contracts in line with company procedures.
- Contract Administration (NEC/JCT): Administer the main contract and subcontracts, ensuring all contractual notices, certificates, and instructions are issued correctly and on time. Assess and value variations, compensation events, and interim payments.
- Subcontractor Management: Measure, value, and certify subcontractor interim applications and final accounts. Manage relationships with subcontractors, resolving any commercial disputes proactively and professionally.
- Valuation & Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate monthly client applications for payment. Manage the cost-to-complete process and contribute to the preparation of the final account, ensuring maximum recovery of costs and value.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven QS Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a UK main contracting or sub-contracting environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC3/NEC4, JCT) and a solid understanding of construction law, procurement routes, and financial reporting.
