Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Decontamination: Operating and monitoring automated washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and other equipment to thoroughly clean and decontaminate surgical instruments, endoscopic equipment, and other reusable medical devices.
- Inspection & Assembly: Meticulously inspecting all instruments for damage, function, and cleanliness. Assembling, wrapping, and packaging instrument sets and trays according to precise procedural lists and sterilisation protocols.
- Sterilisation: Loading and operating sterilisers (such as steam autoclaves and low-temperature systems like hydrogen peroxide plasma or ethylene oxide), accurately documenting cycle parameters, and conducting routine biological and chemical tests to validate efficacy.
- Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate stock levels of sterile supplies, managing loan instrument sets, and ensuring the timely distribution of requested items to operating theatres, wards, and clinics.
