How the Process Works

From pitch to publication, here is what to expect when you contribute to the Staff Direct blog.

1

Submit Your Pitch

Use the form below to send us your topic idea, a brief outline, and a short bio. No need to write the full article first.

2

We Review & Respond

Our editorial team reviews every pitch within 5 working days. We will confirm whether we would like to proceed and any guidance for the full draft.

3

Write & Submit

Write your article following our guidelines and submit it as a Google Doc or Word document along with your author bio and preferred headshot.

4

Published & Promoted

Once approved, your article is published with your byline, bio, and do-follow link — then shared across our social channels.

Submit Your Pitch

Tell us who you are, what you want to write about, and why our audience will benefit from reading it. We read every submission.

Before you submit, make sure your message includes: your name and job title, proposed article title or topic, a 3–5 sentence outline of what you will cover, your website or LinkedIn URL, and a brief note on your relevant experience or credentials. The more context you give us, the faster we can respond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee to submit an article?

No. Writing for Staff Direct is free of charge. We do not accept payment for placements, and we do not pay contributors — this is a mutual arrangement based on value exchange: your expertise, our platform.

Can I republish my article elsewhere after it is published here?

We ask for exclusive first publication rights. Once the article has been live for 90 days, you are welcome to republish it elsewhere provided you add a canonical link back to the original on our site.

Do you accept AI-generated content?

No. We run all submissions through detection tools and review them editorially. Articles that are clearly AI-generated or that read as though a human has lightly edited an AI draft will be declined. We want genuine expert insight — something only you can write.

How many links can I include in my article?

One do-follow link is included in your author bio. Within the body of the article, contextual links to reputable external sources (gov.uk, ONS, academic research) are fine. Links to your own website within the body copy are not permitted. Any articles submitted with embedded commercial links will be returned for editing before consideration.

How long does the review process take?

We respond to pitches within 5 working days. Once a full draft is submitted, we aim to provide editorial feedback or confirmation within 7–10 working days. We will always let you know either way — no pitch goes unanswered.

Do I need to be a professional writer?

Not at all. We care about expertise and clarity, not literary flair. If you have genuine knowledge about careers, recruitment, HR, or the UK jobs market, and you can communicate it clearly, we want to hear from you. Our editorial team will help tighten the piece before publication.
